The added inner ring is a crucial feature, safeguarding against potential implosion into the pipe during installation, shielding the sealing element from extreme conditions, and eliminating gaps between flanges to prevent erosion. Crafted from the same high-quality alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to the stringent DIN 2699 standard, mandating inner rings for all spiral wound gaskets. According to ASME B16.20 standards, inner rings are imperative for gaskets with PTFE fillers and highly recommended for those with graphite fillers. This profile is ideal for raised and flat-faced flanges, with the external ring offering extra radial strength to avert gasket blowout and serving as a compression limiter.
