This vital inner ring not only forestalls the risk of the gasket collapsing into the pipe during installation but also shields the sealing component from extreme temperatures and aggressive mediums. By filling the gap between flanges, it helps prevent flange erosion and minimizes the risk of failure. Typically composed of the same alloy as the winding, in compliance with the DIN 2699 standard across all spiral wound gaskets, this feature is indispensable for gaskets utilizing PTFE filler, as mandated by ASME B16.20 standards, and is deemed crucial for graphite fillers. Ideal for raised and flat-faced flanges, the outer ring grants additional radial strength, effectively preventing gasket blowout while serving as a compression stop.
