This high-performance spiral wound gasket is engineered with both a robust outer and inner ring. We've expertly inserted an inner ring to boost gasket efficiency, while an external guide ring ensures precise centering on the flange face. The inner ring serves a crucial role: it prevents the gasket from collapsing into the pipe during installation, shields the sealing element from extreme conditions, bridges the gap between flanges to ward off erosion, and minimizes potential failures. Crafted from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring meets DIN 2699 standards (German), which mandate inner rings for all spiral wound gaskets. For gaskets with PTFE filler, inner rings are essential as per ASME B16.20 standards, and they are highly recommended for graphite fillers. This advanced profile is ideal for raised and flat-faced flanges. Additionally, the external ring provides extra radial strength, safeguarding against gasket blowout and serving as a vital compression stop. Typically fashioned from carbon steel (with anti-corrosive paint or zinc plating), the outer ring can also be made from alloys for applications demanding higher temperatures and resistance to severe mediums.
