It expertly fills the void between flanges, curbing flange erosion and significantly minimizing failure risks. Typically, this inner ring shares the same alloy as the winding, aligning with DIN 2699 standards which mandate inner rings for all spiral wound gaskets. As per ASME B16.20, inner rings are indispensable for gaskets with PTFE fillers and are highly recommended for graphite fillers, making this profile ideal for both raised and flat-faced flanges. The stalwart external ring bolsters radial strength, averting blowouts and acting as a precise compression stop.
