Our Premium Spiral Wound Gasket is meticulously engineered with a robust outer and inner ring. To amplify its performance, an inner ring is incorporated, offering a multitude of benefits. This element ensures precise gasket centering on the flange face, prevents the gasket from imploding into the pipe during installation, and shields the sealing element from harsh temperatures and mediums. It also fills the void between flanges, preventing flange erosion and minimizing the risk of failure. The inner ring, typically composed of the same alloy as the winding, is mandated by the DIN 2699 standard for all spiral wound gaskets. ASME B16.20 standards also require inner rings for gaskets with PTFE fillers, and they are crucial for graphite fillers as well. This gasket profile is ideally suited for both raised and flat-faced flanges. The external ring adds extra radial strength to prevent gasket blowout and serves as a compression stop. The outer ring, usually made of carbon steel (painted or zinc-plated for corrosion resistance), can also be crafted from specialized alloys to withstand higher temperatures and more severe medium applications.
