For superior performance, an inner ring has been strategically inserted, elevating the gasket's reliability. This inner ring is instrumental in preventing gasket collapse into the pipe upon installation, safeguarding the sealing element from extreme temperatures and harsh mediums. It expertly fills the void between flanges to thwart erosion and drastically reduces the possibility of failure. Crafted from the same high-grade alloy as the winding, the inner ring meets the DIN 2699 German standard specifications for all spiral wound gaskets. In alignment with ASME B16.20 standards, inner rings are mandated for gaskets featuring PTFE filler and are considered crucial for those with graphite fillers. This remarkable gasket profile is ideally suited for both raised and flat-faced flanges. Complementing its design, the external guide ring provides essential radial strength, preventing potential blowouts and serving as a robust compression stop. Typically made from corrosion-resistant carbon steel, which may be painted or zinc-plated, the outer ring can also be constructed from alloys to withstand higher temperatures and more demanding mediums.
