This exceptional spiral wound gasket is engineered with both a solid outer and inner ring. To elevate its performance, an inner ring has been meticulously inserted. This addition not only enhances the gasket's durability but also ensures precise centering on the flange face through an external guide ring. Crafted to prevent implosion into the pipe during installation, the inner ring safeguards the sealing element against extreme temperatures and aggressive mediums, efficiently filling voids between flanges to avert flange erosion and significantly minimize failure risks. Typically composed of the same high-grade alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to the rigorous DIN 2699 (German) standards, mandating its inclusion in all spiral wound gaskets. In compliance with ASME B16.20 standards, inner rings are essential for gaskets containing PTFE filler and are highly recommended for those with graphite fillers. This robust gasket profile is ideally suited for raised and flat faced flange applications. The external ring contributes additional radial strength, thwarting any blowout risks, while also serving as a compression stop. Often manufactured from carbon steel (with a protective paint or zinc plating to resist corrosion), the outer ring can also be constructed from specialized alloys to endure higher temperatures and more challenging mediums.
