This inner ring is ingeniously designed to prevent potential implosion into the pipe during installation, offering protection against extreme temperatures and harsh mediums. It fills the void between flanges to avert erosion and significantly diminishes the likelihood of gasket failure. Typically crafted from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring's importance is underscored by its requirement in gaskets with PTFE fillers under ASME B16.20 standards, and its essential role with graphite fillers.
