This exceptional spiral wound gasket is crafted with a robust and durable construction featuring both a solid outer and inner ring. Ingeniously designed, an additional inner ring is incorporated to significantly boost gasket performance and ensure precise centering of the gasket on the flange face via an external guide ring. This inner ring serves multiple protective functions: it prevents the gasket from imploding into the pipe during installation, shields the sealing element from extreme temperatures and aggressive mediums, fills the gap between flanges to avert flange erosion, and reduces the risk of gasket failure. Typically, the inner ring is composed of the same high-quality alloy as the winding. Adhering to the stringent DIN 2699 standard (German), inner rings are mandatory in all spiral wound gaskets to ensure top-tier performance. For gaskets with PTFE filler, ASME B16.20 standards necessitate an inner ring, and they are strongly recommended for those with graphite fillers. This versatile profile is ideally suited for both raised and flat faced flanges. Moreover, the external ring significantly enhances radial strength to prevent gasket blowout and functions as a compression limiter. It is usually composed of carbon steel, which is either painted or zinc plated to resist corrosion, but can also be made from alloys for applications involving higher temperatures and more challenging mediums.
