This inner ring is crucial in preventing potential implosion of the gasket into the pipe during installation, while safeguarding the sealing element from extreme conditions and hostile mediums. It plays a vital role in filling the void between flanges, thereby preventing flange erosion and reducing the likelihood of failure. Fabricated typically from the same alloy as the winding, this component adheres to the DIN 2699 standard (German), mandating inner rings for all spiral wound gaskets.
