Behold the extraordinary spiral wound gasket, meticulously engineered to include both solid outer and inner rings. However, an innovative inner ring has been deftly inserted to significantly enhance the gasket's performance and reliability. This inner ring serves as a crucial component, preventing any possibility of the gasket imploding into the pipe during installation. It ensures the sealing element is shielded from extreme temperatures and harsh mediums. Moreover, it effectively fills the void between flanges, thereby safeguarding against flange erosion and drastically reducing failure probability. Typically crafted from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring aligns with the stringent DIN 2699 standard (German) demanding inner rings in all spiral wound gaskets. For gaskets with PTFE filler, inner rings are a requisite per ASME B16.20 standards and are highly regarded for graphite fillers. This design is ideal for raised and flat-faced flanges. The external guide ring offers additional radial strength, effectively preventing gasket blowout and serving as a reliable compression stop. Often manufactured from carbon steel, either painted or zinc plated to combat corrosion, the outer ring can also be forged from alloys to withstand higher temperatures and more severe applications.
