Crafted to deliver exceptional sealing efficiency, this spiral wound gasket boasts an expertly engineered solid outer and inner ring. The addition of an inner ring significantly boosts gasket performance by precisely centering the gasket on the flange face. It prevents any chance of the gasket imploding into the pipe during installation, safeguarding the sealing element from extreme conditions and different mediums. This ingenious design also fills voids between flanges to avert flange erosion and minimizes failure risks. Typically made of the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to the DIN 2699 standard (German) mandating inner rings in all spiral wound gaskets. According to ASME B16.20, inner rings are essential for gaskets with PTFE fillers and are highly recommended for graphite fillers. This profile suits both raised and flat-faced flanges. The outer ring provides crucial radial strength to prevent gasket blowout while acting as a compression stop. Typically constructed from carbon steel (painted or zinc plated to resist corrosion), it can also be made from other alloys for high-temperature and severe medium applications.
