This spiral wound gasket comes equipped with both solid outer and inner rings, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Enhanced with an inner ring, it boosts gasket performance by precisely centering it on the flange face. This strategic addition prevents the gasket from collapsing into the pipe during installation, safeguards the sealing element against extreme temperatures and harsh media, fills the void between flanges to thwart erosion, and significantly mitigates the risk of gasket failure. The inner ring is crafted from the same alloy as the winding, adhering to the esteemed DIN 2699 standard, which mandates inner rings in all spiral wound gaskets. In accordance with the ASME B16.20 standards, PTFE filler gaskets require inner rings, and they are deemed crucial for graphite fillers. This configuration is ideally suited for raised and flat-faced flanges. Moreover, the external guide ring imparts additional radial strength, effectively preventing gasket blowout and serving as a compression limiter. Typically constructed from carbon steel – either painted or zinc-plated to resist corrosion – the outer ring can also be made from high-performance alloys to withstand elevated temperatures and more aggressive media.
