This inner ring is crucial for preventing the implosion of the gasket into the pipe during installation, offering protection to the sealing element against extreme conditions and aggressive mediums. It adeptly fills the gap between flanges, safeguarding against erosion and significantly lowering the risk of failure. Crafted from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring complies with the stringent DIN 2699 (German) standards, mandating inner rings for all spiral wound gaskets. As per ASME B16.20 standards, inner rings are essential for gaskets with PTFE filler and are highly recommended for those with graphite fillers. This sophisticated profile is ideal for raised and flat-faced flanges. Completing the design, the external ring delivers added radial strength to avert gasket blowout and functions as a compression stop.
