This inner ring is crafted to avert the gasket from collapsing into the pipe during installation, offer protection against extreme temperatures and harsh mediums, and fill the void between flanges to prevent erosion and reduce failure probability. Typically matching the alloy of the winding material, the inner ring meets the stringent DIN 2699 standard, mandating its presence in all spiral wound gaskets. ASME B16.20 standards also necessitate inner rings for PTFE-filled gaskets and highly recommend them for graphite fillers. This versatile profile is ideal for both raised and flat-faced flanges. Additionally, the external guide ring enhances radial strength, providing a safeguard against gasket blowout and acting as a compression limiter.
