Crafted typically from the same alloy as the winding, it aligns with the DIN 2699 standard (German), which mandates inner rings for all spiral wound gaskets. According to ASME B16.20 standards, PTFE fillers necessitate an inner ring, and it's deemed crucial for graphite fillers as well.
